 WE DESERVE DEATH

 JESUS DIED IN OUR PLACE

 HE RESURRECTED AND

 WE CAN BE SAVED!

THE GOSPEL

The Gospel is without a doubt the greatest news you will ever hear.  The almighty creator of the universe, God, is just.  That means He is fair.  Fairness or justice involves reward for good, but punishment for bad.  When we do wrong, there are negative consequences.  The known murderer cannot just say he is sorry and expect the judge to reward him.  No, there must be a punishment, a payment for his wrongdoing.  It is the fair thing to do.  It is just.  God is as fair, right, and just as they come.  So, if we sin against Him (and we do), there is a price to be paid.  As evil as mankind is, as sinful as you and I are, we are completely deserving of death.  We deserve to be seperated from God.  We deserve to serve an eternal sentence in Hell's flames, alone and in constant agony.  That's the bad news!

The good news, the great news, the amazing news, the UNBELIEVABLE news is that Jesus chose to leave Heaven to come to Earth and be born as a baby.  Jesus faced temptation just like we did.  Jesus was mocked, threatened, attacked, let-down, rejected by His own people, homeless, etc.  It wasn't an easy life, but Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life as an example for us.  Ultimately though, He came to pick up our tab.  He came to pay our price.  He came to take the punishment we deserved.  He loved us so much, even while we were still rebellious toward Him, that He willingly allowed Himself to be crucified.  When Jesus was crucified, He took all sin with Him.  He took your sin and mine.  He took past sins and future sins.

Miraculously, Jesus conquered death three days after His crucifixion (just as He said He would).  Up from the grave He arose with a mighty triumph over His foes and an eternal victory for His followers!  Jesus did ALL of this for _____________.  Go ahead, fill in the blank.  Jesus paid the price for all of us, you, me, your friends, your family, strangers, foreigners, EVERYONE!  It gets even better.  Jesus did all of this so that we would not be eternally separated from God.  Jesus made it possible for anyone who will follow Him completely to be saved.  It is possible, because of Jesus, for you and I to go to Heaven and live with Him forever!

How convicting...

Jesus loves us even as disobedient sinners.  Jesus died for sinners.  It seems like it would make more sense if He had died for a very righteous group of devout followers.  However, there was no one so "good" that they didn't need Jesus' blood to cover their sin.  Aside from Jesus, no one was perfect.  So, Jesus' love is pretty amazing.  He was willing to give Himself, His own life, for you.  What are you willing to give to Him?  He wants you.  He wants all of you.  He doesn't just want you to try and be a better person.  He doesn't just want you to try to go to church.  He doesn't just want you to believe in Him.  He wants you 100% sold-out, devoted to Him.  He wants you to live in Heaven with Him for eternity.

How will you respond?

THE TRUTH ABOUT HEAVEN AND HELL

100%

OF TRULY OBEDIENT, BIBLE-FOLLOWING CHRISTIANS WILL GO TO HEAVEN

100%

OF "GOOD" PEOPLE WHO DON'T FOLLOW THE BIBLE WILL GO TO HELL

100%

OF DISOBEDIENT, NON-CHRISTIANS WILL GO TO HELL

Jesus described Hell as:

1.) A furnace of fire

2.) A place of torments

3.) A place where people scream for mercy

4.) A place of outer darkness

5.) A bottomless pit

6.) A place where the worm never dies

7.) And where the fire is never quenched

The Bible teaches us that Hell is a place of intense pain.  In Hell, a person will experience intense physical suffering eternally.  On top of that, a person in Hell will experience something that none of us have EVER experienced, complete and total separation from God.

You can't wait until you're there, you can't experience the flame, the weeping and wailing, the physical and emotional torture and then say "Okay, I believe.  Just let me out of here, I believe now."  Everyone in Hell believes.  Unfortunately, it's just too late.  You're alone in the outer darkness, consumed by fire, and no one can hear your cry.

And if you think that God will spare you, please remember that God does not want anyone to experience Hell, but it's a decision you make.  God is just.  God is fair.  God makes promises and keeps them.  God never changes.

2 Peter chapter 2 tells us God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment.
